The project features an exhibition of historical photographs from the Tatra Museum’s archives, the oldest cultural institution in the Małopolska region, Poland, nestled at the foot of the highest mountains in Central Europe. It explores the unique environment of the Tatras and the surrounding mountain landscape as a force that has profoundly shaped the life and identity of local communities.
Through this exhibition, the Museum reflects on the potential of mountain regions in the context of a sustainable relationship between people and nature. On one hand, it highlights the distinctive local culture that has evolved in harmony with the natural world; on the other, it draws attention to the rapid growth of tourism and its impact on this delicate balance. Ultimately, the project seeks to focus public attention on the current state of mountain ecosystems and the environmental challenges they face.

The exhibition is accompanied by the “Echoes of Change” Project
This multimedia installation consists of four video-art pieces created by Jan Wierzejski and poetically portrays the impact of climate change on mountain regions in Europe and other parts of the world. Each piece focuses on a specific aspect of the environmental crisis, illustrating both the real threats and the subtle processes unfolding within mountain ecosystems. The videos depict, among other things, the dramatic consequences of forest fires, prolonged droughts leading to vegetation degradation, the accelerated melting of glaciers, and landslides affecting various mountain ranges. The entire installation is accompanied by a soundtrack composed by Bartek Tyciński, which underscores the emotional weight of the project.

Group Trebunie-Tutki will present a captivating program inspired by the mountains, celebrating the theme of the exhibition. Their unique style, widely recognized in Europe, blends deep-rooted family musical traditions of Podhale and Polish culture, and a passion for highlander culture with a bold, avant-garde approach to their heritage.
