Jochen Mesle and Max Kroneck are not regular cyclists. Throughout their lives, they have broached many unorthodox trips, but the idea behind Ice and Palm has been years stewing in their minds. It is a five-week adventure, of 1,800 km and 35,000 vertical metres, on bicycles from Germany to the Mediterranean Sea, crossing the Alps on the way. Their goal is not just merely to ski virgin slopes but to do the whole trip using muscle power: with the skies tied to the bikes or the bikes tied to the backpacks.
