Pakistani writer Bina Shah will talk about women of their country: their struggles, their hopes and dreams, their triumphs and tragedies. Using examples of Pakistani society, including the life of Malala Yousufzai, the fighter pilot Ayesha Farooq, and the Oscar-winning film director Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, Bina Shah explore the positive effect of telling stories of girls and women. Either through the media, literature, poetry and art, or through the work of organizations that educate and train women and girls, Shah will explore the importance of visibility of models Pakistani women. After the conference the Oscar-winning short film of Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness will be shown.
